API-PNR System
API-PNR System — Zambia’s Four International Airports AVIT is delivering the Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) system across Zambia’s four international airports. The system captures traveller and reservation data from airlines before departure, validates it against national and international watchlists, and delivers a risk assessment to border, security and revenue authorities while the aircraft is still in the air. This shifts Zambia’s border posture from reactive inspection at the counter to informed decision-making before arrival. It also brings the country into alignment with international civil aviation and border
security obligations on advance passenger data, and it materially shortens processing time for the overwhelming majority of legitimate travellers.
SYSTEM SCOPE
▪ Airline API and PNR message collection, parsing and validation to international messaging standards.
▪ Automated risk assessment, watchlist matching and alerting to border and security agencies.
BORDER CAPABILITY BEYOND THE AIRPORT
▪ Biometric identification, automated border control and e-Gate integration for accelerated clearance.
▪ Secure interfacing with immigration, security, revenue and airport operational systems.
▪ Audit, retention and data-protection controls governing traveller data throughout its lifecycle
NATIONAL BENEFIT
▪ Stronger border security without adding queueing time for compliant travellers.
▪ Better data for tourism, aviation and revenue planning — supporting national visitor-arrival targets.
▪ Compliance with international advance passenger data obligations.
▪ A reusable national identity and traveller-data capability that extends to land and lake border posts.
